Höglunds, Ludvika, 1994.This dissertation is a historical study of the 20th century Swedish discourse on childhood sexuality. At the centre of this analysis stands the discourse concept of Michel Foucault, along with his theories concerning sexuality, knowledge, power and discipline. There is also a gender perspective. The discourse on childhood sexuality is characterized by two processes of discursive transformation, taking place during the period 1500-1900. The first concerns the concept childhood, and the second deals with sexuality. At the intersection of these discourses exists the question of childhood sexuality. At the outset of the twentieth century, an adult-education programme was undertaken in Sweden, with the intention of teaching the populace how to live properly. This normative thinking also included the field of child care, which was influenced by new psychological and pedagogical theories. The arrival of psychoanalysis in Sweden brought with it theories of childhood sexuality, and this caused pedagogical quandries to arise. In this debate notions of the relationship between nature and culture, healthy and pathological, masculine and feminine were put forward. The debate was pursued along three distinct lines, and the basis for the disunity lies in varying perceptions of the main issues of pedagogy, as well as of political ideol+. Nyskick.
