The book is a beautifully produced collection of photographs of small churches made out of corrugated iron. These tin tabernacles were thrown up often intended as a temporary step towards building a more substantial church. The author has toured the country to seek them out. He has provided an amazing record of these unusual buildings. Some were already demolished before publication and many others may have disappeared since then.
I’ve not quite understood the rather random order in which the buildings are shown. The historical information is rather uneven and not always perfect. But that doesn’t matter. Here is the raw material for anyone who wants to go on to do further research.
