Kongl. Stora Theatern. I dag tisdag den 8 september 1863: [...] En midsommarnattsdröm. Dramatisk dikt i 3 akter, af William Shakspeare [...].
Övrigt tryckt och skrivet.
Mycket gott skick.
Stockholm, Kongl. Stora Theatern, 1863. 46.5 x 35.5 cm. [1] page. Evidence of folding, three hardly visible holes, probably from the printing process, a few minor stains and slight soiling, but a remarkably fresh and attractive copy!
The playbill advertises A Midsummer Night’s Dream, using Fredrik August Dahlgren’s adaption of C. A. Hagberg’s translation. Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy’s music was played, the scenography was crafted by Fritz Ahlgrensson and the choreography was produced by Sigurd Harald Lund. This is the first production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream in Sweden. It was staged for the first time in 1860 and caused a bit of a stir: there was a coronated donkey on stage, Elise Hwasser in the role of Puck was said to be almost nude (which she was not), and new solutions for the scenic room were tested.
