Inbunden bok.
Gott skick. [Format: 17 x 24 cm. Series: "Wissenschaftliche Veröffentlichungen der Gesellschaft für Erdkunde zu Leipzig", vol. 8.] Duncker & Humblot, München und Leipzig 1914 (1st edition). (XII) 411 (semi-glossy paper) + 38 (glossy paper) pages + 6 fold-out plates in a private (Wincklers Bokbinderi, Malmö) half-cloth with leather title label and colored edges. The colors of the title label are those of the national flag of Ecuador. The same regarding the colored edges, even though the fore-edges are left uncolored (close enough to the yellow i suppose). Book binders label on the front pastedown. The glossy papers contain black and white photo illustrations. The fold-outs in the end show various topographical data. Pages 332-406 are made out of 3 appendices of which the 2nd is vast, with tables of barometric altitude measurements running through 45 pages. Pages 407-411 contain an alphabetical index. --- This book documents Sievers third research trip to South America - to the highlands of Peru and Ecuador. Here he was able to document further traces of early glaciation, proving that tropical South America was also affected by the last ice age, being partly covered in ice. He was also the first to determine the source of the Marañon, the largest source river of the Amazon. --- The exterior parts of the book are in great shape, with one exception. The back board has a vertical scuff mark through the top corner cloth and also a alittle bit into the board paper. Contents are clean and fairly bright. Many of the foot corners have small, light crease marks. There's also a vertical crease from page 300 (roughly) to the end. It's in the outer margin though, never in the image or text areas.
