Many aircraft types have multiple entries so as to cover all the wartime marks and models, the Spitfire and Seafire, for example, between them have nine entries, the Messerschmitt Bf 109 has six, the Boeing B-17 Fortress four, and so on. The list of aircraft includes all the major combat types, a great many of the minor ones plus the more important transports, trainers and gliders which emerged from the factories of 15 nations and served between 1939 and 1945. Arranged alphabetically by manufacturer, the entries are also fully cross-indexed to make finding them a simple task.
