[Complete set of Svante Arrhenius' contributions to the "Bihang" serial, 1883-98.]
Häftad bok.
Nyskick. Stockholm: [Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences], 1883-98. 8vo. (686) pp. + 14 pl. Arrhenius contributed profusely to two of the major periodicals published by the Academy: The monthly journal "Öfversigt ..." (1-59, 1844-1903) and the serial "Bihang ..." (1-28, 1872-1903). For the latter he wrote no less than 15 works, among which are some of his most important and famous, such as the two-volume "Recherches sur la conductibilité galvanique des électrolytes" (1884) and the seminal "Ueber den Einfluss des atmosphärischen Kohlensäuregehalts auf die Temperatur der Erdoberfläche" (1896). From a surviving sewn, uncut and unopened (though incomplete) set of the Bihang parts has here a complete and truly magnificent set of all 15 of Arrhenius' Bihang contributions been carefully extracted and lifted out, all in pristine, clean, fresh, uncut and unopened condition, threadsewn as issued, and all in their original impressions (though without the fragile wrappers in the separate emissions made available to the trade and the authors before the completion and distribution of the volume parts for which several sets of the sheets of these original impressions were also kept aside). The 15 booklets contain 686 pages and 14 plates in all, each booklet with its own title-leaf, separate pagination and bibliographical makeup, and, again, the condition is really outstanding, the set having escaped reading and use for nearly 130 years.
