Abstract : State-of-the-art technology regarding bonded joints, the adhesives involved, and adhesion strength is presented in 14 Conference papers. Of these, 12 are of direct interest to Plastic. Topics considered include: the effects of the environment (particularly moisture) on adhesive bonds; bonded joints with specialized adherends (titanium, beryllium and carbon reinforced plastics); bulk properties of adhesives (both conventional materials and the more recent flexibilized epoxides); the role of solvents in adhesive preparation; endurance limits for adhesive joints; and plastisol adhesives.
