The book Nice Hier & Aujourd'hui/Nice Yesterday and Today is a photographic reappraisal to understand the history and evolution of the urban landscape of Nice and to discover its rich and largely unknown photographic heritage. This has been accomplished by juxtaposing historic photographs of the French Riviera city with modern ones by photographer Olivier Monge. In this book, Nice's excellent photographic collections have been widely used and highlighted: the Cessole library in Nice, the Nice municipal archives, the photographic department of the city of Nice, the Alpes-Maritimes departmental archives, and Gilletta Editions. Olivier Monge did not opt ​​for strict rephotography of specific historic photographs. Indeed, the dazzling expansion of the city does not allow this type of method to fully represent the current city. Many viewpoints are no longer accessible, plus the photographer and author Jean-Paul Potron wished to avoid nostalgia, preferring a documentary approach over time.
