(XXVII) 708 pages in publishers green, faux leather hardcover with gold imprinted text to spine and pictorial jacket. The book is (fairly richly) illustrated in color aswell as in black and white, with buildings, views over certain areas, maps etc. The book is divided into 14 chapters, with bibliography and notes at the end of each chapter. In the back, a comprehensive section of appendices and indexes are found; Appendix A is titled "Chronology of events and persons relevant to the history of early Christianity (200 B.C. - A.D. 200)" with the sub-sections 1. "Chronology of Events in the World of the New Testament and the Early Church" 2. "Hasmonean Dynasty (Second and First Centuries B.C.)" 3. "Herodian Dynasty" 4. "Jewish High Priests" 5. "Roman Prefects and Procurators of Judea and Samaria" 6. "Roman Emperors" 7. "Messianic Claimants around the Time of Jesus" 8. "Jewish Prophets around the Time of Jesus". Appendix B is titled "Glossary of Critical and Historical Terms". Appendices are followed by "Index of Modern Authors", "Index of Ancient Sources" and "Index of Subjects". --- The book is in great shape. The jacket is worn, almost exclusively around the corners and spine ends, and has a tear on the front, close to the spine head, which has been repaired with scotch tape from the inside.
