Hyggligt skick. London, printed for the Camden Society. 1853. xxviii+479+(1)+6+(2) pages. Later cloth, parts of the original boards mounted. The boards are rubbed and slightly slanted. Dampstains and repaired tears on a few pages. Unreadable owner’s signature. Notes written with pencil and ink throughout the volume, mostly alternative spellings (as on the second picture). Annotated edition of the Middle English text and translation into Modern English. First edition of James Morton’s important critical edition of the “Ancrene Wisse”.
