Die Eisenbahnen Russlands. (Les Chemins de fer de la Russie d´Europe.)
Verlag von Artaria & Co. In Wien. Bearbeitung u. Druck v. G. Freytag Wien. Ausgabe von 1886. Folding map 78,5 x 53,5 cm. Colour lithography. A few short fold separations, the longest 9 cm. Pin holes in the corner margins. An interesting railway map of the european part of Russia and sections of eastern Europe. In the west the network is quite extensive but east of Moscow there is just a few train lines. One of them has reached Volga and an isolated strech can be seen in the Ural mountains. Another isolated line connects the Caspian Sea with the Black Sea, running between two wild mountain ranges in the Caucasus. We can also see a line under construction to connect the Caspian Sea with the rest of the russian network. Furthermore the map depicts shipping lines in the Black Sea, the Caspian Sea and the Baltic Sea. At the top we find insets of Moscow and S:t Petersburg as well as a key to the map. On the right hand side we have an extensive list of train lines and their lengths in kilometers.
