Street Bikes – 30 years of high performance motorcycles

There is nothing quite like a ride on a high-performance street bike, also known as the superbike. This revolution in the world of motorcycles started in 1937 with the Triumph Speed Twin, designed by Edvard Turner. This was the first vike that was not only handsome, fast and reliable, but also comfortably affordable. and it was competent on the racetrack as it was on the street. When Triumph released the T120 Bonneville in 1959, the revolution was complete. Here was a bike with rugged specifications that was being sold to the public entirely on its speed potential, that was as much fun on the road as it was on the track.
By the late 1960s the handwagon was getting fairly full, as companies strove to compete in this new, potentially huge market. Such bikes as the Honda CB750, the Kawasaki H1 and Z1, the Ducati 750 Super Sport, the BMW R90S and the Moto Guzzi 850 LeMans were, and still are, powerful and popular examples of street bikes at their finest. In the 1980s and 1990s the Kawasaki GPz series, the Honda V45 Interceptor, the Ducati 750 F1 series, the Suzuki GSX-R750 and GSX-R1100, the Yamaha FZR 1000, and the Kawasaki ZX-11 Ninja have provided even better performance and more excitement.
All of these bikes and more are featured in this all-color volume. Filled with details on the handling, performance and character of these bikes, most of whioch are collector´s items, and illustrated with sumptuous photographs showing off the bikes at their best as well as engine configurations and other close-ups, STREET BIKES is a book that is sure to delight motorcycle enthusiasts everywhere.
