CHOOSING A MODERN HOUSE
The Studio, Ltd., London, England.,uå(1939?)
En fantastisk bok med 80 enastående hus med makalös arkitektur.
Green cloth boards. 25x19cm, 599g. Very good condition. Richly illustrated with b/w photos. This is a rather spectacular and scarce book. Myerscough-Walker was a noted architect, draughtsman, designer and author in the 1930's. He design'd the Art Deco entrance at Zoological Gardens/ Dudley Zoo UK and wrote 'Stage & Film Decor', among other achievements. In this preWWII book he writes admiringly of Frank Lloyd Wright, Alvar Aalto, Le Corbusier, Gropius, Moholy-Nagy, Erich Mendelsohn. The book includes 80 photographed homes worldwide, including floorplans, of these and other architects of the new 20th century deco-moderne style. One notable home (#45) shown was designed by Mendelsohn for Dr. Chaim Weizmann (Rehoboth, Palestine) one of the great Jewish Zionist leaders of the day -- a hilltop aerie surrounded by thriving fields and gardens. Other homes and personages of note are throughout the book - including a Nottingham home done by Myerscough-Walker himself. This is a rare architetural book, documentary in its scope.
