First published in 2014, this reprint of PETER LINDBERGH: IMAGES OF WOMEN II is a tribute to the late photographer Peter Lindbergh (1944-2019) who elevated fashion photography to the ranks of portraiture. Actresses, models, and socialities from many contries join in front of Lindberghs camera for a photographic summit in the categories of portrait, fashion, dance, and the nude.
With his signature style oscillating between the parlance of Expressionist dance of the 1920s and the velvety black & white of film noir, Lindbergh has registered every movement of the body and soul without eschewing the sometimes dark aspects of female existence and the male eye.
Filmmaker Wim Wenders and art historian Werner Spies, both longtime friends of Peter Lindbergh, and novelist Peter Handke, have written – each in his own style – contemplative and thoughtprovoking text about the photographs.
Designer Juan Gatti, a friend of the photographer, presents Lindbergs photo taken between 2005-2014 in a symphonic book from conveying the rhythm and composition of the images.
