Välkommen till den första samlingsvolymen av A Game of Thrones, serieromanen baserad på min fantasybok med samma namn.
Låt mig klargöra en sak: Detta är inget komplement till TV-serien. Det du nu ska få läsa är en helt egen bearbetning av mina romaner. Kreatörerna bakom de olika versionerna av min saga – Daniel Abraham och Tommy Patterson vad gäller serietidningen – utgick från samma källmaterial och stötte på delvis samma utmaningar, men de var samtidigt tvungna att hantera problem som är unika för deras respektive medium. I vissa fall hittade de kanske samma lösning, i andra fick de gå helt olika vägar. Men om du gillar TV-serien och undrar varför historierna skiljer sig lite åt, och varför karaktärerna inte liknar skådespelarna du sett på din platt-TV … så vet du nu.
För egen del älskar jag TV-serien, och jag älskar serieromanen också. Detta är min värld, det är mina människor, och det är fortfarande min historia, som nu berättas på ett annat sätt i ett annat medium, där en helt ny publik kan njuta av den.
