Heavy ice that season resulted in the use of an alternative site at Cap Thordsen on the north shore of Isfjorden. The present set of reports was the only publication to appear following the return of the expedition. It includes the leaders narrative of the expedition, along with results of astronomical, meteorological, electrical and biological observations. The expedition team included Salomon August Andrée, later to lead his own ill-fated expedition to the North Pole.
