Mycket gott skick. Skyddsomslag i hyggligt skick. /// Förlagets beskrivning: After thirty-seven years of research and inquiry Maurice Barbanell is acknowledged to be one of the best-informed authorities on Spiritualism as we know it today. He edits Psychic News, a weekly newspaper, and Two Worlds, a monthly magtizine. He has lectured widely on the subject on both sides of the Atlantic. From his contact with readers and audiences, and the recurring questions they ask, he has come to know precisely which are the aspects of Spirilualism most perplexing and confusing to the lay mind. It is on this knowledge that he has based this remarkable book. From the outset his purpose has been to explain, not to convert, it being no part of his intention to crusade in the name of Spiritualism. He is content solely to present the facts and leave the reader to draw his own conclusions, though he makes no secret of the direction in which his own convictions lie. The many examples of pyschic experience that he quotes—drawn from people in every walk of life—make quite extraordinary reading. As Barbanell points out, Spiritualism is, by its very nature, wide open to the depredations of charlatans who prey on the credulous at bogus seances and exhibitions of fake mystic powers. He claims to have unmasked more such tricksters than any other living person and warns his readers against a too-ready acceptance of claims which may be anything but genuine. Containing some of the most remarkable psychic photographs ever published, this is a book of the widest possible appeal. The confirmed Spiritualist, sharing the author's conviction in the supernormal, will read these pages avidly, being tempted, maybe, to match the author's psychic experiences to his own. To the layman knowing little or nothing of Spiritualism, the book will come as a revelation of thought-provoking ideas that sometimes challenge explanation. And to the sceptic, whose convictions are so often founded on ignorance, it will come as a renewed challenge. Maybe this book will not change his views—it may even confirm him in them—but it will give him a clearer understanding of Spiritualism the reason why so many accept it.
