The International Conference on Health Promotion, held in Sundsvall, Sweden, in 1991, was the first global conference to focus directly on the interdependence of health and the environment in all its aspects. Taking as its theme “Supportive environments for health”, the Conference concluded with a Statement calling on people in all parts of the world to engage actively in making environments – physical, social, economic and political – more supportive to health.Following on from the Conference.
