A Monograph on the Ephemeridæ / Phryganidarum synopsis synonymica / A catalogue of British Neuroptera

Inbunden bok.

Dåligt skick. Sammelband with three titles on Neuroptera which has belonged to Alfred Edwin Eaton, the author of two of the works. The volume contains [1] A Monograph on the Ephemeridæ by Eaton (The Transactions of the Entomological Society of London 1871) [2] Phryganidarum synopsis synonymica by Hermann August Hagen (Verhandlungen d. k. k. zoologisch-botanischen Gesellschaft in Wien 1864) and [3] A Catalogue of British Neuroptera by Robert McLachlan and Eaton (London 1870). 4:o [14,7 x 21,5 cm]. 164, 6 engraved plates, 30 blanks & 92 & viii, 42 pp. Bound in a very worn, contemporary half calf binding. Top of spine with tear. Binding almost entirely loose from text block and first leaf loose and several following leaves almost loose. First title page with repairs and several leaves with minor tears. Plates with foxing. Second work with foxing throughout and last leaf with repair, which has caused some loss of text. Stamps on flyleaves and plates from Entomological Society of London. Originally the volume contained two additional works. Second work with the signature of rev. Alfred Edwin Eaton and first work with numerous corrections, notes, and revisions by Eaton. Eaton (1844 - 1929) managed to combine his professions as vicar with a scientific career and conducted research trips to Svalbard, the Kerguelen islands, Algeria etc., specializing in Diptera and Ephemeroptera.
