The purpose of training the 'rational way' is to produce a versatile riding horse. This book covers topics such as: grooming and handling, diet and routine, long-reining and transitions in-hand, work on the lunge, backing, communication, riding out, schooling, jumping, turning out, and saddlery and equipment.

The book covers the horses anatomy, Nervous system, skeleton, muscles, balance and conformation. Another chapter covers behaviour and the senses. The Horse's Primary and Secondary Education take up about 2/3 of the book and saddlery and equipment are not forgoton - again with very precise drawings.
The book has many colour photographs by the owner and is sure to be a winner as was his earlier work "From Paddock to Saddle" Great Reading."
