" A study amongst Arabic speaking Christian and Muslim Families at Råby"
Läser på bokens baksida :
"Based upon her work amongst Arabic speaking refugee families in Västerås Dr Eva von Hirsch explains how cultural beliefs and ideas concerning children and their development organise the way in which parents socialise and rear their children . The report is based upon the contention that ideas and beliefs concerning children and children-development are non-universal but culturally specific contructs whose origin may be traced to indigenous theories concering human nature.
By way of revealing indigenous beliefs concerning human nature this report explains how such beliefs also govern educational theories. Furthermore, theories of refugee parents about human nature , it´s potentials and expected development, differ from those theories which generally govern educational activities in Swedish schools. This discrepancy causes some frustration amongst and hampers communication and co-operation between refugee parents and teachers.
Dr Eva von Hirsch received her Ph D from Durham University in England in 1993. Her thesis explained the importance of ethnotheories in socialisation activities with in ethnic groups. She is presently working as a full-time researcher in the Department of Cultural Anthropology at the University of Uppsala. "
