Stephen William Hawking, född 8 januari 1942 i Oxford, död 14 mars 2018 i Cambridge, var en brittisk fysiker, kosmologiforskare och populärvetenskaplig författare. Han var forskningsdirektör vid Centre for Theoretical Cosmology inom Universitetet i Cambridge.
Leonard Mlodinow, född i Chicago i Illinois, är en amerikansk fysiker, författare och manusförfattare. Mlodinows föräldrar överlevde förintelsen. Han har skrivit flera populärvetenskapliga böcker med författare som bland andra Stephen Hawking.
