Count Peter's Receipt Book takes us on a visit to the Count's castle kitchen as it could have been in the 17th century. Our visit is based on a beautiful manuscript collection of recipes which, according to an ancient tradition, belonged to the Brahe family. Our story begins, though, with a short introduction to the history of Visingsö at the County of Visingsborg. This is follwed by the varied and eventful life story of Count Peter Brahe the Younger at the centre of political affairs. The Receipt Book occupies a chapter of its own which also includes a description of gastronomic trends of the period. Last of all comes a selection of 17th century recipes, 42 in all which have been carefully modified for use in the modern kitchen.
