The book "Stories of Missouri" was written by the American historical author and poet John Roy Musick (1849-1901) and published by the American Book Company in 1897. This FIRST EDITION book contains the original black and white illustrations. Musick was best known for his "Columbian Historical Novels". This book is a collection of true stories about the pioneers who first settled the state, many of the important events that took place, tales of interesting and strange people, Missouri's roll in the Civil War, and much more. The last chapter tells of Jesse James death and the capture of Frank James. Stories of Missouri was written for young readers, and in that way simplifies the history and makes it come alive for all ages.
