Community Based Alcohol Prevention in Europe - Methods and Strategies
This book is the result of the many papers presented at the First European Symposium on Community Action to Prevent Alcohol Problems supported by the European Commission and in collaboration with the WHO Regional Office for Europe.
The following five themes were included in the symposium:
1. Research-based evaluation of community action programmes;
2. The interaction between local, national and European prevention strategies;
3. Local programmes in schools, workplaces, health sectors,
primary health care and other community contexts;
4. The role of citizens' movements, consumer organisations,
women?s groups and other voluntary organisations;
5. Local political action.
The proceedings from the conference are published in two books.
1. Community Based Alcohol Prevention in Europe ? Methods and Strategies and
2. Community Based Alcohol Prevention in Europe ? Research and Evaluations.
This book is the second one and shows examples from different prevention programmes presented at the symposium. It also includes examples from different methods of working with community based prevention and will hopefully serve as a guide to inspire new projects around Europe. Some of the projects have not been evaluated, but they represent local efforts in handling both primary and secondary prevention in this fairly new research area.
