Schwarzes Elfenbein.
Häftad bok. London - Berlin - Paris, Europa-Verlag. . 1940. 15, (1) sidor.
Mycket gott skick. Staple bound as issued in publisher’s printed wrappers. A fine copy. The publisher Europa-Verlag was a nazi propaganda center aimed at discrediting the Allies, not least by targeting their colonial enterprises. This publication, ”Black Ebony”, was issued as number 29 in their series ”Informations-Schriften” and treats England’s participation in the trans atlantic slave trade. The anonymous author starts out telling the story of one of the first English slave traders, John Hawkins (1532-1595) and ends with the forced labour in Sierra Leone continuing well after World War I. Read against the background of what happened in Germany and German occupied territory at the time of publication, all condemnations of cruelty against the slaves leaves a horrendously hollow echo.
