Agaton Sax is off on another whirlwind adventure, pitting his brains against those of the most ruthless criminals in Europe. It all starts in London with - horrors - the kidnapping of Lispington, at the very moment he is on the phone to Agaton Sax. The conversation was about The Colossus of Rhodes, not only the famous antiquity, but a cunning crook operating under the same name.
The action moves to Rhodes. In the dark passages beneath the palace Sax and Lispington meet again, and the hunt for the Colossus (and Herr Gustaffson) is on. Clever Dick is there and Lispington's PCM (paper chewing machine). In the final hair-raising moments Aunt
arrives - with her famous yellow pail for putting over the heads of criminals.
Quentin Blake's drawings are, once again, little masterpieces. Just a few lines and a character is established, a mood caught, the comedy of a situation exploited to the full.
