Painting course is a book that provides practical advice and insights for artists of all abilities. Whether you like to specialise in drawing, watercolour, pastel and acrylic or oils there will be something in this book for you. Particularly useful are the sections that provide guidance as to the kinds of materials you need to purchase for your form of art and explanations as to quality of the different art materials suggested. The book is extremely well written, easily understandable and contains many illustrative diagrams and pictures. I am not an artist, but was introduced to the book by my sister who was a very good watercolour artist. On the strength of her recommendation and my reading knowledge of its content, I have just purchased the book for a recently retired head teacher who is taking up art as a hobby. I suspect she will find it an invaluable part of her tool kit.
