Reflections on the book "The Doctrine of Nova Hierosolyma Concerning the Sacred Scripture"
Inbunden bok. The Lord's New Church Which Is Nova Hierosolyma (USA). 1987. 86 sidor.
Mycket gott skick.
This book is based on sermons delivered by the author on each heading or chapter of the book, The Doctrine of Nova Hierosolyma concerning the Sacred Scripture [The Doctrine Concerning the Sacred Scripture] by Emanuel Swedenborg. The author explains what is written there about the literal sense of the Word, that it contains an inner meaning and serves as the vessel which contains the spiritual and celestial sense. (Includes illustrations in support of this idea.)
The Lord’s New Church which is Nova Hierosolyma teaches that the Writings of Emanuel Swedenborg are the Third Testament of the Word of the Lord, so the things taught in the book about the literal sense of the Word must therefore also refer to all three testaments. The author further explains how “doctrine” is formed in the mind of an individual who is open to the Lord. When the light of Heaven shines in, the letter of the Word becomes “the living Word.” Odhner reflects that the nature of an individual’s love for the Lord and for the Word makes it possible for them to receive the Lord’s love. He writes that “to know God, Heaven and hell, the life after death, and thus to know the Lord, is to be brought into this eternally renewed reception of the Divine True. Then does the Divine Celestial and Spiritual of the Word shine forth translucent in the sense of the letter of the Word in ever increasing glory.”
