La Réforme was a republican and reformist french newspaper founded by Alexandre Auguste Ledru-Rollin a politician who worked to improve the conditions for the working class. He was forced into exile when the revolution of 1848 failed. The first editor in chief was Ferdinand Flocon a radical journalist who became a member of the 1848 provisional government. He was replaced by Christian Ribeyrolles in February 1848, who was a strong defender of the 1848 revolution. He, in turn, had to go into exile during the repression of 1849, eventually dying of yelllow fewer in Brazil in 1860. After the coup in 1852 and the establishment of the Second Empire the newspaper was banned and ceased to exist. In the present volume covering three months of 1848 we find contributers such as Pierre-Joseph Prodhon, Louis Blanc Louis Eugene Cavignac, Etienne Arago among many others. Other volumes contain contributions from Karl Marx, Friedrich Engels, Mikhail Bakunin and many other prominent thinkers of the era. An important newspaper in a turbulent time in Europe.
