Nära nyskick. 1951. (1) page. Offprint impression from the first number (vol.1, no.1; April 1951) of the new journal Antibiotics and Chemotherapy. The word antibiotic, in the presently accepted sense, was first proposed by Waksman in 1941. He and his collaborators first used this word in a series of scientific papers published in 1942. The present paper introduces a somewhat revised definition of the term. Waksman, "the father of antibiotics", was awarded the Nobel prize in 1952. [A7759B]
