Inspired by the excitement and simplicity of childhood, Tessa has brought together recipes based around colouful, pure fresh ingredients.

Tessa Kiros was born in London to a Finnish mother and a Greek-Cypriot father. The family moved to South Africa when she was four, and at the age of 18, Tessa set off to travel and learn all she could about the world's cultures and traditions, and new ways of living and eating. She has cooked at London's The Groucho Club and in Sydney, Athens and Mexico. On a trip to Italy to study the language and food she met her husband Giovanni.

"Apples For Jam is a charmingly writen and illustrated book (the hardback is particularly gorgeous if you like "food porn" on your bookshelf or coffee table!) with plenty of lifestyle shots, children's drawings and family photos of Tessa's childhood and own family which makes this a treat to both read and refer to for recipes. Michelin star food this is not, but it's honest, homey, wholesome handed-down recipes for food that I enjoy making and eating everyday and want to give my family and friends.
• The Beef Stew with Carrots (so good,I have cravings for this one), Cranberry and Chocolate cookies, Sausage Goulash, Lemon Sandwiches with Raspberries and Cream (AMAZING for a tea party or special occasion), Chicken Escalopes with Tomatoes and Capers, and Vermicelli Soup with Tomato and Basil - to name just a few - are such regulars in our house that I know the recipes off by heart.
• If you're unsure to go for this, buy it! You won't be disappointed, as even if you don't go for the recipes to cook from, just reading it is like a big warm hug from a friend!"
