Baksidestext: A symposium about popular medicine with the topic "Learned and popular tradition in popular medicine" was held in Stockholm on the invitation of the Nordiska museet in May 1961. Participants at the symposium were about 20 scholars from Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and Finland representing medicine, medical history, veterinary science, cultural anthropology, religions history, and ethnography. The symposium lasted three days and was filled with a dozen of lectures and discussions as well as demonstrations of collections on populär medicine, a visit to the Museum of Medical History (Medicinhistoriska museet) in Stockholm, etc. From lectures held at the symposium the following are published in this volume, namely: ROBIN FÅHRAEUS, professor of Medicine, Uppsala: Basic Facts concerning Humoral Pathology and Relics of these in the Language and in Folk-Medicine p. 7 K.
