This is the first English translation of the complete text of this classical 18th century Chinese novel. Translated by Yang Hsien-yi and his wife Gladys Young.

Text reprints authoritative editions--with minor corrections--of the 80 chapters by Tsao Hsueh-Chin, and the 40 additional ones written by Kao Ngo to supplement those lost. There are 40 chapters per volume.
