"The Bridal Canopy (Hebrew: הכנסת כלה, Hakhnasat Kallah) tells the story of a poor but devout Galician Jew, Reb Yudel, who wanders the countryside with his companion, Nuta, during the early 19th century, in search of bridegrooms for his three daughters. It is considered to be one of the first classics of modern Hebrew literature.
In 1966, Agnon won the Nobel Prize in Literature, the first author to do so writing in modern Hebrew."
